BAECHLER, Harry “Satch”

Harold Arthur “Harry” “Satch” Baechler, 74, of Tavistock passed away suddenly at his residence on Sunday October 30, 2022.

He was born on the Baechler Homestead at 3856 Road 106 (South Easthope) Township of Perth East on April 14, 1948, a son of the late Arthur and Idella (Steinman) Baechler.

Satch had been a feed truck driver for 50 years. He was a founding member and Past President of the Optimist Club of Tavistock where he received the “Optimist of The Year” award. He had many successful years playing with the Tavistock Merchants Baseball Club and later as a coach. He also served as a coach with Tavistock Minor Ball. He had served on the Executive of Tavistock Royals Hockey Club for many years.

Harry was predeceased by his partner, Sharon (Sewell) Lichti on July 15, 2022.

He is survived by two sons, Jim Baechler and Steve Baechler (Beth); four grandchildren, Lauryn, Erin, Sam and Alex; his brothers, Peter Baechler (Mary), Gerald Baechler, Kenneth Baechler (Lorna); his sister, Miriam Flewitt; his sister-in-law Loretta Baechler. Satch will also be lovingly remembered by “Sword” children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Harry was predeceased by his brothers, Delford and wife Betty, Clare and David, sister Eileen and her husband Paul Helmuth; his brother-in-law, Fred Flewitt.

Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where the funeral service will be held on Saturday November 5, 2022 at 1 pm. The Rev. Rob Congram will officiate. Interment in East Zorra Brickyard Cemetery, 15th line. Reception following.
