Obituary for Charles John Louis "Jack" WETTLAUFER

WETTLAUFER, Charles John Louis “Jack”, 84, of Tavistock, passed away suddenly at his residence on Monday October 17, 2022. He was born at Stratford on February 5, 1938, a son of the late Percy John Wettlaufer and the former Ruth Marie Hinz.

Jack operated a dairy farm in East Zorra-Tavistock, was a member of Grace United Church, Tavistock where he served on the Church Board and was a Trustee, was a member and Past Master (1982) of Tavistock Lodge #609 A.F & A.M., the Mocha Shrine Club & Mocha Road Runners, the Stratford-On-Avon Shrine Club, the Royal Order of Jesters, the Woodstock Lodge of Perfection No.33 A. & A.S.R., Centennial Chapter Rose Croix A. & A.S.R., Moore Sovereign Consistory A. & A.S.R., was a Scottish Rite 32°. He was a member of the Tavistock & District Fire Department for 26 years and retired as Fire Chief. He was a member of the Board of South Easthope Mutual Insurance Company where he had served as President, had served on the Board of Directors of the Tavistock Cheese Company. He was a member of Tavistock Agriculture Society since 1953 where he had served as President. He had been a leader of the Tavistock 4-H Calf Club for 16 years and was a member and Past President of East Zorra Junior Farmers. He was an honorary member of the “Stonepickers”

Jack is survived by his wife the former Claudette Edna Sippel whom he married at Sebastopol-Tavistock on September 25, 1965; three children, Fred Wettlaufer, Marianne Ruby (Dale), Charlie Wettlaufer (Chris); four grandchildren, Riley and Travis Wettlaufer, Jayden and Simon Ruby; his brother, William R. “Bill” Wettlaufer (Gloria); his sister, Lynda Lou Wettlaufer; his brother-in-law, Farrell Sippel (Carol); his goddaughter, Kim Gilmore (Rev. Byron)

He was predeceased by his infant daughter (1967) and by his brother Robert Bob Wettlaufer (2017); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milton and Florence (Berger) Sippel.

Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Friday 4-7 pm. The funeral service will be held in Grace United Church, Tavistock on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11 am. The Rev. Young Seo will officiate. Interment in Grace United Cemetery. Reception following.
